Aviate Interview Process

Anyone been through the process?

What can you share about the interview?....Asking for a friend. Seriously, I am . All the people I know inside the inner sanctum, and the realm are tight-lipped. What's the gouge right now?

Pre covid it was the same as the regular interview except you did the hogan there at the end of the interview process.

Anyone know if it’s held against you if you leave the aviate program and apply externally? Currently at an aviate carrier and looking to leave due to horrible quality of life. I’m wondering if I go to another regional that’s not an aviate carrier, pull out of aviate and I apply externally. Will that be held against me.

Logically I would assume so. But that would mean the operation itself and the people running it would have to be keen enough to mark that specific person. To be honest, after everything I experienced about the program and the people running it. They’re really just blind mice throwing darts. It’s been mostly “as we go” kinds of rules and answers and protocols. So would it hurt your chances? Probably. Are the individuals running capable enough to be so precise in program oversight? … probably not.

I’m sure you’re regional isn’t a very happy place being it’s an Aviate associated one. Anyone with a slight inclination to the aviation industry knows why those regionals require Aviate to stay afloat. So I’m sure it stinks, trust me… I hear you. But I really wouldn’t take the risk of leaving. Ride it out, look forward to FIFO updates and it will be over soon. My $0.02

United has enormous levels of data. The Aviate program is an evolving one. Especially considering the past 1.5 yrs. I know regional airlines are tough but it’s exactly those experiences and your perseverance in life that by large determine whether you get selected at a Legacy or equivalent airline. Most of us have seen good and bad in the career, your experience right now is not the last speed bump your going to hit and mess up your ride. Other regionals may provide better opportunities for you. I have no doubt leaving Aviate and trying to find the back door to UA will provide poor results. But I just fly airplanes and I don’t know much.

Of course. Mostly I just think of how awful it could be to jump ship. Then a year from now finding out your Aviate FIFO number was called and you’re now near the bottom of a new regional…. Yikes.

All regionals suck. Sure, some suck more than others. The grass is just a "shade greener." But, not much. If you've got some seniority already at regional X, chances are, you'll be upgrading soon. it may be a prison sentence, but it should be a short one if already in aviate. Use your sick time when it starts to suck bad for you.
