Hmm, you are correct, that plane is an A. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

Also, as far as all P&W planes coming back? It's going to take quite a while. The ones flying now were modified and fixed prior to the FAA approval. Quite a few planes still need work and will take time. I doubt they'll all be back for the summer. Besides, international flying still hasn't come back in many regions and we don't really need the whole fleet. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them stay in storage for a while even after the mods are complete.

Are we short pilots in the 777 fleet? I don't know the levels of flying planned. Maybe?? Certainly for the fall and prep for next year.

A models are apparently cleared for Europe. I heard that manning isn’t too bad on the 777 depending on the base.

I thought the new update was supposed to make the A models legal for half tracks.

Hours in bid package show EWR 777 with double in July what it had in June. June produced a G line of 94 with 187 total captains. Reading the tea leaves (we'll find out tomorrow) I'd guess a G line of around 180 for about 190 captains. Obviously, that won't work, so something's gotta give, but it sounds like we might be going from grossly overstaffed to grossly understaffed in one month.

SFO 777 went up 3000 block hours from June to July.

it will be a profitable summer for some willing to work.

So sounds like we need people but it’s quiet on the vacancy side. Probably because people probably wouldn’t be trained till Christmas season

No problem. I didn't know the A models could make it that far so I thought it may have been a glitch.

Not to geek out too much, but RLatSM (half tracks) aren’t a thing anymore. They’ve been replaced by the new acronym; PBCS (Performance Based Communication and Surveillance) that includes surveillance, communication, and navigation performance requirements(RNP/PBN). The entire fleet meets PBCS requirements.

You sure that was an A? The A's aren't qualified to fly the tracks on reduced separation, and consequently not supposed to go across the Atlantic. That's also a stretch for range on an A.

The bigger issue with an A model on a Europe trip (or the B models in the high density configuration) is the contract!!!

5-J-1-d When not covered by Sections 5-J-1-b or 5-J-1-c above, for 777-200 aircraft when configured in a two-class, high-density format, a seat grouping of two (2) premium seats in the highest class of service, with a sound-deadening curtain and footrest (which may be portable).
5-J-1-d-(1) This crew rest configuration may only be used for single-augmented Basic Flights.

This means no augmented Global flights on a cattle car, which IAH-LHR definitely is. Don't see how a true A could make that leg, but even if it is a B, If it is in the cattle car configuration, then no Augmented Global. So, you can take a cattle car over to Europe, but only on an unaugmented leg. Hawaii augmented is ok, but not Global.

Totally stupid that they took out the bunks on the B models when they reconfigured them, but we fly they manage.

Hmm, worth a PDR. Basic flights?
