If a person wants to be home with the young 'uns I get it. I was the same way and dropped to 50 hours for almost 5 years (lucky me - my wife had a great job at the time). The keys are a) don't commute b) learn to bid well and use drops well c) bid WB FO. The WB job at United is like working for a whole different company.

For whatever entertainment its worth I was hired in '96 and spent my first 2 years on reserve working every weekend and holiday with 11 or 12 days a month off, and I may be remembering incorrectly but we were ALWAYS on short call. There was no long call. Man Power planning had beefed up the ORD '73 ranks in anticipation of a '73 airplane order, but the company ordered A320s instead and I went from number 242 out of 244 to something like 178 out of 180 in ORD during my first 2 years. I know . . . I know waaaa waaaa. Anyways just meant as an entertaining thought.

Actually the top 737 guy in ORD has 21 days off! Meanwhile the top bus in ORD has I think 15? I tried to look it up but pbs isn’t working at the moment. The whole way up the bus list looks very similar as far as days off. That’s what had me worried; not the fact that mine is tough, but the fact that it doesn’t get significantly better as I look up the list

edit: pbs is working now. The top guy has 16 days off, but is at 75 hours, so he had to give up hours to get more days off.

You can’t drop trips when the entire month is red before trading opens.

The #1 320 FO has a week of vacation…so he didn’t give up hours for days off.

overall for April Ord 737 averages 5:25 credit per day. The 320 averages 5:12. I would say its due to its higher 1 day trips as a result. (182 trips at 7 hours average on the 737 vs 81 trips at 6:01 avg on the 320) most of the other bases are closer in credit time per day. Generally with 5 mins of each other.
