Jesus, guys. We’re airplane pilots. Fly the airplane and quit worrying about what somebody else makes.
Brett deserves a nice big bonus. We deserve 100% retro and maybe even a nice big bonus too.
Rampers oughta make more too.

Honestly tough to know the value of the folks at that level. Oscar drove some good changes, but I think a lot of his perceived value stemmed from the incredible media presence United pushed for him (mainstream media, social media, and otherwise). Dude was running a 24/7 PR campaign for the airline. He did a lot to "shift the public narrative" about United, in addition to his work in actually driving change at the airline.
Just because Brett Hart wasn't out there on the Sunday morning talk shows and all over social media doesn't mean he isn't a good leader of the airline. Maybe he's a rockstar, maybe he's a dud, I don't know.
At the same time, given Hart's limited background in the industry, it's absurd to think that the ever-present drive for Diversity Points wasn't part of the calculation of putting him in that role. And while DEI may indeed be a "waste of time, money, and energy," the federal government has decided that all the "DEI nonsense" is very important to them. And there aren't many industries more beholden to the whims of the government than the airlines.
United does what Uncle Sam says.

limited background in the industry?
He has been with UAL/CAL since 2010. One would think with12 years experience and becoming President of the corporation means he has a good understanding of the industry.

The sell talking point will be “you’re not going to vote against a contract because you didn’t get full retro are you?”
Just more impetus for the delay and hiding behind RLA after the next amendable date. Ironic how years ago we wanted shorter contract durations so we could negotiate improvements. Now IMHO, the shorter contract durations will lead to in an increase in aggregate contractual delays beyond the amendable date. This benefits the company as we self fund our future gains.
