I’ll take it at face value. It’s definitely needed & I think a good move by the company. If this buys them time, though, it does not buy them undue delay. They know what an industry leading contract looks like, so putting one together does not require a lot of time.
And for those keeping score, this is not credit toward inflation. This is credit for concessions we took that allowed the company to gain huge advantages in the post-COVID market. The contract rates in and of themselves need to exceed inflation on DOS. |

I think what he means as a down payment this 5% from the LOA is being considered as part of the pay bump for the contract…so instead I’d say 15/5/5 we get 10/5/5
LOL 15/5/5 wouldn’t have made it out of the new MEC. That’s already below inflation. Thankfully the old pro Tumi MEC is now the minority. Shouldn’t be long until we have a new NC. Imagine if the recalled guys had voted no and done this back in June……. 5 months farther into negotiations. But the future is looking up. |

Was more an example of how the 5% in TA1 was accounted for in the raise (whatever they ended up being 15/5/5 was just example)

Fair enough. Sorry if I came off crass. Just seems management is still outplaying ALPA. They spin removing the concessions from the Tumi TA as it’s somehow a gain. That’s why 94% voted to keep the current agreement. The salesmen on the TA seem even further out of touch now. Can only hope those couple yes voting reps still left after today can work with the rest to remove and replace the NC and start getting serious about a new contract.

Was this a management decision or an ALPA one? One of these is asleep at the wheel. |
Gotta love how some of you can spin this as being worse than the company waiting 6 months. For your own sake, try to remember what an adversarial management team looks like. This isn’t it. SK isn’t Santa clause, but his interests are more closely aligned with ours than any CEO I’ve seen in my decades.
Leave nothing on the table, but let that blood pressure settle a little bit. |
Not UAL, but glad to see you all getting a pay raise. Also, amazing how they spin not gutting the contract as some kind of 'win'.
Also, selfishly I'm glad to see this pay raise so the CEO of DAL will no longer be able to tout that DAL pilots are the best compensated pilots in the industry. :D |
“Down payment”?!? Are they serious??? This was previously negotiated and is not some kind of Christmas present. Sounds more like a bribe to me. Management is not doing this to be “nice”.
