Your mileage may vary. I've experienced both extremes.

Not caring what either side thinks makes it easy, however I can’t even remember the last time that the topic has come up. If they want to rant (about anything), just tell them that you don’t care. Works like a charm. Watching their blood boil is also cheap entertainment on a long trip.

Yikes...good mentoring is needed now more than ever for the super greens.

At an LCC…. 3000 hours would be a very welcomed aviator over the 1500-1750 range!

Have a friend that would intentionally make a particular CA’s blood boil for the entertainment 😂 Granted, the CA one of those people that no one wanted to fly with. This was at his previous carrier.

FOs are about being a Chamaeleon. Just nod and smile then find common ground and run with that. Usually works for me.

We had a captain in IAH years ago that was hard core religious right and always wanted to talk about how messed up other opinions were. One trip I was a hardcore atheist conservative Republican, one trip a devout Christian far left democrat, etc. It was fun messing with him for a while, but I got tired of playing games or trying to just get along. That’s when I learned to tell people that I just don’t care. For some live and let live is great as long as you agree with their views. Its just easier when you don’t play the game.

I’m willing to bet that zero to hero pilot was at commutair BECAUSE they had no 4 year degree. The kid probably couldn’t get an interview invite at the top regionals. I want you to think about that one for a second.

Not entirely. Guy I know, has under 2500TT, zero TPIC, and one of these online university "degree's", five years ago he didn't yet have a private pilot license. Hired at both UAL and DL in 2022. They wouldn't have touched him with a hundred foot pole in the past.

Sounds like I need to go ahead and get my app in.

2600 TT
2000 Turbine
350 TPIC
3 PIC types, A+P, CFI/II/MEI

No degree or 121. I also worked for FlightSafety and was director of training for a small 135 outfit, which interviewers seem to like when they see it. I know I’m near the bottom of the barrel but it’s starting to look like I might be close?

I was one of those nut-jobs that stayed in corporate too long. Then the airplane goes on a 135 certificate and I wonder what the heck I’m doing still here.
