May as well start at UAL and then move to DL if you want to. You never know if something causes a slow/stoppage in hiring during those 90 potential days (unlikely, but stranger things have happened).

It sounds to me like you kind of want to end up at Delta, but there’s no harm starting at United and going from there.

Just looking at the ALPA Jumpseat finder, CHS to Newark has about 4 flights a day (Airbus during the week, mostly, mix on Weekends). Dulles is bad. ORD is pretty meh. Atlanta has like 6-7 flights, though, and I guess you could drive it in a pinch?

So…..
Dulles is bad now but goes back to 4 flights by April. Add in DCA and BWI options, 5 and 3 respectively, with easy transportation options to get between DCA and IAD. Metro is an hour or so. Uber is 35-60 minutes. BWI is accessible via Amtrak or MARC train to downtown DC then Metro.

So CHS-WAS is currently 10 flights a day in low season.

EWR in April goes to 6 flights with 5 being mainline. LGA has 7 flights.

Commuting is always bad in terms of stress and time required compared to living in base. But DC is just as viable as ATL if willing to have flexibility.

Really comes down to knowing what the seniority progression looks like. DAL has been hiring like mad for a good 10 years. I'm guessing most of the 12,000 - 13,000 they did hire will still be there in 20 years right in front of you on their list. Kind of sobering. UAL just went nuts hiring the last year or so, so maybe, just maybe there's something in there. Had a training partner recently who's dad was a very senior DAL CA and brought this point up to me. Son was in late 30's and referencing above numbers advised by dad to go to UAL instead of DAL. At least you have options.

3) I like the first pancake so I guess that makes me part of the 15%. Or you need to be better at making pancakes.

The conventional wisdom is take the first class date available. Since I’m sitting on two offers within a short span of time, it makes the decision a little more difficult, since both offer many unique positives.
When you say your wife will out earn you until year 8-10 what pay value is that? We can help you make sure your assumption is correct pay wise.

Not accurate without CAL hiring in there.

Not sure those are United numbers. I know for a fact that no pilots were hired in 2010.

Good point. But none past the merger. Does not affect the last decade.
