Piggybacking off this question what about somebody who’s in Vegas? Not moving from Vegas. Southwest is big in Vegas, United will be small, for now at least? Both will be 737 unless willing to commute for widebody. Seeing the pros/cons of both

United. Without a doubt. I hate to say but SWA won't get fixed. I thought AW was going to be a welcome change. Hes just the same as the other C suite millionaires here.

Not sure what the seniority of LAS is at WN, but at UA we just had 1 Captain slot go "unfilled" on the bid that was awarded on the 14th. So you could get there almost immediately and potentially bid up to Captain after a year.

UAL for sure today. If the economy tanks later this year, who knows. Long term UAL.

Does anybody have the total pilots based in DEN for United and the total for SWA? If you live in Denver and never want to commute ever again I am thinking SWA might be the better bet.

Are you thinking about leaving HA? Isn't A330 freight captain gonna go pretty junior?

Zero question it’s United. LAS will likely end up with 300-400 pilots based here (less than 200 now) and any new hire can get to Vegas immediately. Also we just had Captain going UNFILLED which means anyone with a year on the property and 500 hours at United (the contractual minimum to be a Captain) could have held it. How long to hold Captain at SWA? 8-10 years?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vegas grow substantially over the next few years.

LAS is around 7.5 yrs. We are in class within 1-3 weeks of the award. No clue how long at UAL after the award you start getting paid CA pay…doesn’t matter much if you can hold it after a year though.

I would get a copy of both contracts and dig deep on the reserve rules. Many believe UAL reserve rules to be less than satisfactory and worst in industry. Make sure you can live with them.

For commuters or just everyone on RSV?

Bad reserve rules are bad reserve rules. The reserve rules are more tolerable if you live in base. They're less tolerable when you read other companies' reserve rules.
