IAH Base and CA Upgrade
Hello
What are the chances for a new joiner to get IAH base ? If so , on what type ? How many years would take for new joiner to go for command ? Any base , any fleet . Thanks |

Captain, any base, any fleet is a tall order
Some bases widebody captain is close to 10% systemwide seniority… if you want weekend reserve IAH 737/320/756 fo is very junior 737 captain is *currently* 1 year Other captains much more senior |
Hi
Anyone knows when was hired the most junior Cap at IAH on 320? |

DL for 8 months, but IAH is home. United has never been so incredibly tempting. Bird in the hand though, I guess.

Hello all,
I'd like to ask about CA upgrade as well. I'm new to this forum and to flying in the U.S. in general. I've been flying in the Middle East for the past 10 years and currently preparing to move to the U.S. I am considering United. I'm flexible in where I am going to settle. I do prefer IAD, MCO or EWR as family is there. My priority is command at the moment. I've flown the 737, 777 and 787 and done my share of international flying. I'd love to fly the 756 until command is available on any fleet. I want to live in base and not commute. I want to end up in the Tampa area, DC, or New Jersey in that order Should I have a job offer and based on current conditions what advice can you give me on what base and aircraft to fly if I do have the choice? I appreciate it and apologies if I hijacked this thread Safe flying |

8 months means very little if you could jump over and drive to work / hang out at home on rsv. I’d do it….

Negotiations on that idea will not be entertained until after we have a new agreement, so not sure what that would look like if it were negotitated, but the company has said they want to have that as they go forward. So, if you wanted FL as fast a possible, you would want 737 as your initial assignment (prob in EWR) and then try to get a lateral as an FO down to Florida. If you are willing to wait (not sure how long, but certainly years) you could take the 756 in EWR or IAD and stay as an FO there until you could hold Captain down in FL. Junior Captain down in MCO is about 64% system seniority right now. Again that is a brand new base and would grow if TPA were eventually included, so it is going to take awhile before the eniority of the Florida base is a little better solidified, but it will likely be the senior base going forward (which it is right now) |
