777 hearing issues

I'm new to the 777 and having hearing issues since we don't use headsets. I'm a little hard of hearing but not deaf (background noise being the normal problem). Anyone have recommendations on hearing aids to help out in flight?

I don't know if this would help - but I use the Clarity Aloft Pro with only one ear piece. Really helps with international ATC clarity / understanding, but still allows me to hear the other pilot easily. I wear mine anytime I am in the seat, even during cruise over the water - I don't even notice that it is in my ear.

I don’t mean to be snarky but a “hearing aid” in this context is a headset…
Please just try to normalize wearing headsets. Many other pilots will if asked. I can’t tell you how many times the other pilot will go speaker and then jack up the radios when I could hear perfectly fine on my headset.

I’ve already lost a noticeable amount of hearing in my left ear from flying with guys who refuse to use the intercom. I’ll have to undo my left ear piece leaving it unprotected and it’s already taking a toll after just a few years.

Welcome to the world of noisy cockpits. You must be coming from the Airbus or the 787 with its quiet cockpit.
On longer flights I usually use the standard foam ear plugs which block the annoying avionics fan noise frequency and leave the ATC comms perfectly audible.
My audio tuning panel has the volume set at 60-70% and is clear enough to pick up relevant transmissions.
Try that, should help.
Otherwise, keep the headset on, but on longer flights it would be bothersome.

Always fun flying with a loud speaker guy.

Ah who said we don't use a headset in 777. I did and it was fine.

The airplane comes from the factory with an intercom. Yet it’s not ‘cool’ to use….
Utterly ridiculous.

Clarity aloft really helps but in general it’s a ****ty fleet if you care about your hearing. Some etymotic earbuds can help also.
