Recently had my interview. I'm at a ULCC after being at a regional. 4 LOR's, including 2 internal pilots, and one assistance chief pilot at UA. 0 checkride failures, active volunteer experience/leadership roles, interview prep, logbook review, resume review, etc. I walked out of my interview thinking it went as planned. Unfortunately I was suprised with a TBNT... United has been my dream airline and intend on trying again in a year... Sucks to think that I gave up over 2k seniority numbers by not making it on the first go. Anyone else have similar experiences? Any luck on the second try?
Thank you! Definitely sucks, but they will give you an honest shot on round two, so just keep at what your doing and apply everywhere. |

I interviewed 1 year, 4 months ago and got the TBNT. I have a perfectly clean record and am currently at a ULCC. I've gotten every job I've ever interviewed for. I prepped hard for the interview and did interview prep. My last session of prep, the person doing the prep (who happened to just have retired from United as a person who worked in pilot hiring) said that he would have given me a job right then and there and that I would more than likely get the job. Got to Denver and the interview did not go well at all. Was the most awkard, uncomfortable interview I've ever had. The pilot who did my interview was not friendly in the least and I felt like he had something against me from the get-go. It was super weird. Got the TBNT and the email said I could reapply in 1 year. Anyway, since it's been over a year, I tried to reapply recently using the application I previously filled out and this is the message I got when I logged in:
Thank you for your interest in United. After careful consideration of your application, we regret we are unable to further consider you for our selection process at this time. Although we are not in a position to provide you specific feedback on your application, we appreciate you keeping United Airlines in mind and wish you the best in your career, wherever it takes you. |

Reapply windows are determined by an Airlines HR department. United has chosen to waive them in the past for everyone for failed Hogans, but not on a case by case basis.
Also, 2 on here have mentioned "telling one bad story." What exactly does that mean?? Telling a story that paints you in a poor light?? Rambling on needlessly about a checkride failure instead of just owning what happened and moving on?? |
