Instructor-Pilot Gig?

Can anyone speak from experience as to what it’s like? Considering it, if it offers a good lifestyle…I’d probably move to DEN, but is it feasible for commuters? How much do you have to instruct in the sims vs. fly? How does it pay? Appreciate all replies in advance, thanks guys/gals!

I don't think that thread mentions the new pay rate (A320 Captain), or the new flight requirements. 72 hours/year for NB, and I think it's 80-something for WB instructor (hours replaces 'days' of flying). The OT days are also worth a little bit more now.

Also not to be pedantic, but the pay rate is 90 hours of what you can hold at your seniority in the system (capped at 12-year blended 319/320 rate) and need 13 bid months as a pilot before starting. With the unfilled vacancies, that currently translates to new I/Es getting 2nd year bus CA pay. Flying hour requirements are 72 NB and 86 WB.

...the company has other interpretations

Curious as to what you mean.

The company is currently interpreting “best held” differently than the contract language.

I understand that aspect, but what specifically are they interpreting it as?

320 Capt scale only even if you can hold 756 capt. How long do grievances take to get settled?

so a 787 instructor could theoretically do 3 Singapore trips a year and be done with their fly days?
