Thank you guys for your insight. Looking forward to learning the Boeing and getting calluses on my soft Airbus fingers LOL. I am really excited about joining the United family.
If you know a United pilot based there, I would talk to them about the trips, though. It may have gotten better, but initially there were a ton of redeyes which is why it is so junior. You may prefer to commute if that’s not your cup of tea. |

Definitely don’t put any stock in that Airbus rumor—there are no plans to do that. If you want to stay in LAS and not commute, the 737 is your only option.

Plus if they ever did open an Airbus base in LAS it would be a new equipment domicile so you could bid over.
Go 737 and you will prob hold Captain in LAS before you would be legal to be trained on it as a Captain! |

How long it will take to hold a line as a WBFO is difficult to predict. In most time it is measured in many years. There was a brief time a little over a year ago when it was down substantially. Right now Boeing has slowed down the pace of their deliveries on the 787 dramatically, so rather than getting more 787s in May it is looking more like Sept or later. If Boeing can get back to a reasonable delivery pace we should be getting 1 787 a month for a long time. Once those start coming you will see a major uptick in the movement on the Widebodies and that creates unbelievable movement all down the seniority list. |

The large majority of trips on the 787 and 777 in EWR are commutable on both ends (787 a bit more than 777 because it does less domestic). The trips are generally pretty efficient so most lines are 18-20 days off. The 787 in EWR is WAY overstaffed right now so I doubt it’ll be available in the next few months until deliveries pick up. Network Scheduling shifts the flying back and forth between the 767/777/787 faster than they can move the pilots so you can get some weird imbalances sometimes on those fleets. |
Current schoolhouse rumor is that United is once again looking to purchase Frontier to alleviate their Boeing issue. If you are at Frontier and considering going to United, do you want to be at the bottom of the seniority list or on the merged list?
