UA Flight 777

Anyone here know any details from yesterday's (24th) UA Flight 777? Was the immediate return to ORD a passenger or aircraft related issue?

if you work here, it should be very easy to figure out what happened. If you do not - probably none of your business.

Dude, really?

I'm sorry, I thought this was a public forum where we discuss things airline specific. Are we really at the point where we play "I've got a secret"?

Okay, anyone else know anything about UA 777? UAL guy asking...if that should matter.

Thanks

the other (private) forum has details. I for one do not want any reporter / general public reading these public posts and drawling any (wrong) conclusions.

I still say there are lots of ways to quickly find the ship number, and then sleuth the logbook on CCS. Also flight fees allows you to input the flight number.

With all of the unwanted attention all airframes / airlines are getting right now + the union’s message on social media - I don’t want any of us to get any more unwanted attention, and I don’t want the public scrutinizing our job anymore either.

And if they do work here, they should be very much aware of the company's stance and crackdown on talking about work on social media and the internet from what, 2 weeks ago?

I'll say this for the benefit of the whole group.

Nothing in our company policy forbids us from discussing topics dealing with our company. They simply don't want it reflecting negatively on our business. I'll add that this is a perfectly reasonable request.

That said, it would appear that we had an Airbus yesterday blow a motor on takeoff out of ORD. The crew handled it professionally and safely recovered the aircraft shortly after departure.

Kudos to everyone involved.

I'm sure our SMS folks will provide further details at the appropriate time and after their review of the event.

I'll finish with this. A Safety Culture dies in the dark. Awareness to things happening around us is paramount to all of us staying safe out there.

while I whole heartedly agree with your statement, the company and ALPA have specifically asked us to not discuss/ share photos of incidents/ accidents publicly until it is in our safety library. If something gets too much attention in the media, then something that started as an internal investigation, could turn into a full blown NTSB investigation all because someone couldn’t keep it internal. That not only reflects negatively on our airline, but also is a detriment to the crews involved in such incidents. I feel overall the company and ALPA have done a good job of keeping us informed of accidents/ incidents when the timing is right, so we should trust the process.

incidents such as Maui is a great example of this exact thing.
