I live in MCO so I'd be thrilled about an actual hub opening in MCO or MIA.
But honestly, flying from MIA/FLL my last couple of airlines - MIA is waaaay crowded. Not as much room to grow as MCO.

MCO has terminal C with Phase 1 and Phase 2 expansion plan (up to 60 gates) and also Terminal D (up to 60 gates) way down the line if needed. It just has lot more to offer if we really want to go head to head with DL and AA in southeast.

Miami doesn’t have enough gate space for the flights we currently have.

MIA is always good for overs though. When you're paid by the minute, sitting there looking at an open gate while waiting on a ground crew or waiting for MIA gates to clear the alley pays pretty well.

I think MCO as a hub is going to be HIGHLY contingent on Sprit and/or JetBlue reducing their footprint there or folding. If one or both end up on the ropes start looking at the vacancy bidding page.

To be fair, these are the same people that closed the IAH 787 base, displaced everyone, then launched IAH-SYD service on the 787.

Not saying what you heard isn’t accurate but the truth changes at this place almost weekly.

maybe I'm misunderstanding, isn't there already a 737 base? or do you just mean by making it a HUB they will have to grow the base or potentially add other equip to said base.

There's a 737 crew base but it is not considered a hub.
