I got hired like a month ago, lol. I’m in class now. Colgan in 2005, XJT during the lost decade and at NK for the last 12 years. Happy to be here, been great so far, just hoping it isnt the end of the wave is all, calm down

Welcome! I've been hearing NK captains are floating to the top of the pool out of a "predictable" date-of-interview order. Is that correct?

The slowdown in aircraft deliveries was the best thing that could have happened to United. The rate of growth was unmanageable.

No kidding. We shouldn't be hiring 2,000 hour wonders with practically no jet time, much less forcing them into the left seat after one year on property. I'm all for growth, but I'd rather obtain it at a manageable rate.

Thanks! Been a real eye opener, wish I had left Nk sooner, every aspect of this place has blown away my expectations. (Well, except for the 737, the 320 is superior IMO 😁). I think ULCC CAs in general seem to be getting class dates sooner than others in the pool. There were a lot of lower time RJ F/Os in the pool from early 2024 that had to swim for quite a while after the JB/NK merger was blocked and a lot us finally decided to apply. The good news is, it seems like generally CJO to class date waits are trending down. I Also know of quite a few higher time NK CAs recently hired so good news is its somewhat currently competitive again and a lot of experienced guys and girls are headed over

I think the recruiters are smart to do that; the assumption has to be made that NK captains have irons in other fires and the sooner the class date, the less chance of them being lured away after the CJO is made.

Agreed, especially with DELTA & AA picking back up this winter

Not sure if fact, but a few buddies of mine that interviewed in the spring just got class dates after some late summer interviews. So it's for sure not a FIFO.

For those of us that came up in the dark decade (and a half), that all makes sense.

To the HR/pilot selection mantra of this new hiring era, it must be blowing their minds and getting their knickers in a twist.

As long as you meet the mins, it doesn't matter.

Are you a IG "influencer"?
How many kittens rescued?
How many soup kitchens served in?
How many times did you kiss the ring at a job fair?

2013 NK too. Applied in Feb, interview + CJO April, Class August. Considering virtully no classes May/June/July I definitely feel very lucky. And Yeah, should have done it years ago, but after getting shot down hard in 2013 (with 8K TT/4K TPIC) I had given up hope....

United is actually receiving a 787 tomorrow. It's been a while since the last 787 delivery.
