Default Higher tariffs effect on cargo?

I expect to hear about this during the earnings call, but in the meantime, has UAL (or AAL DAL) addressed this? Due to the higher cost of air freight, I imagine that the stuff we carry is high priority or 'premium' and may be less affected?

I'm curious because I think freight is a significant factor is aircraft choice on some routes.

This isn't a 'sky is falling' or 'we're doomed' post...

But the sky is falling. Today we announced economic trade war on the world. A recession is happening. Over on the Delta forum they are predicting parking planes in September downgrades and no hiring to 2027. The cost of eggs vote is gonna cost everyone a lot. Old pilots gonna push for 67 and no movement because of their retirement plan just went up in flames. Sky is falling

I'm with you on all of that, and in fact any loss of cargo revenue may be the least of our worries. I'm just wondering if the specific issue has been addressed.

Did you cry this hard during the first two years of the last administration?

United will be hit the hardest by the trade war, they have the most exposure.

The first 2 years of the last administration took a thoughtful approach to a bad economy. This administration is taking a destructive approach to a good one. So no.

And during Trump’s first term your 401K had the highest performance of your lifetime.

Well I think I did better very recently under Old Man Joe but I’d have to go back & look.

It’s true the Obama era improvements in the economy continued under Trump’s early administration. That was back when congress still functioned to provide checks on some of his poorer instincts. (Like McCain blocking his dismantling of Obamacare.)

I don’t blame 45 for the ways global COVID shutdowns tanked his economy. It’s hard to blame anyone but 47 for what he’s doing this time around.
