Thanks for the insight. I definitely see where I messed up. I didn’t really think about the fact that I’m not willing to move right now, but I’m going to try to work on that. I was told to take the first class date and just went with it without thinking it through.

If you had gone to AA you would have made a mistake.

From the perspective of someone who lives on the West Coast they are both equally awful but DTW you could at least get some cheap housing?

Plus you wouldn't be moving to the bottom of a seniority list during uncertain times.

”DTW” isn’t awful. Yeah, it’s easy to find crappy places to live around there. But there are also some really nice small and medium sized cities within an hour of the airport where one can have a great QOL. To be fair, everyone’s definition of what is desirable will differ, but to paint DTW with a broad brush and say it sucks isn’t very accurate.

Did you not come from a regional?

Back in September 2023, I received CJOs from both Delta and United. I’m based in the Chicagoland area and ultimately chose Delta, primarily because their class date was two weeks earlier than United’s. I’m currently commuting to DTW, but I’m not interested in relocating. Lately, I’ve been wondering if should have chosen United instead?

Thanks for any insight.

lol, commuting is one of the few instances you take the later class date, especially when they are within the same month. You ****ed up big time because at this point if you switch airlines you are taking a HUGE risk and have already lost so much seniority.

United was the punching bag not too long ago. Things come and go.

Sure, take the first class date...

But you could have left DL when that UA class started. There isn't a $100k contract holding you at DL.
