Yup. The attempts to equate the way one wears the costume to their abilities as a pilot are beyond silly. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the management wannabe in full parade dress uniform keep people in back miserable without using the APU air, with a slick tie, doing a PA from the galley. There is ZERO correlation between the 2.

yeah thats not me but......I wore a suit and am pretty confident about how I looked in it, you may have found my pants too tight...buts thats subjective to you. It's a suit not a uniform.

Look it man.....you are passionate about the uniform. We all have things we are passionate about. Like Great...just don't be all upset that not everyone else is. That doesn't mean there is willful non compliance, it doesn't mean they want to look like slobs........ it's just means it occupies less thought in their brain than it does for you.
For me my passion is very clear and easy to understand informative PA's, to the standard that someone who speaks English as a second language with limitations could understand. Now I realize, most people aren't paying attention to announcements. That being said I feel when deadheading it is rare that someone really impresses me with their PA's. It's ok I'm realistic. Im not going to loose my mind because not everyone else shares my passion.

Im not a fan of the long sleeve shirt either, but this is a silly conclusion, IMO. A much more accurate conclusion about the uni would be 1) No APLA pin on the tie=dbag. 2) Wears hat to the urinal in ops=dufus.

3) Places a towel underneath their seatbelt.

Trust is “artificial” with the commonality of the FM/FOM/UPA, company ID and uniform.

if one of dudes at 5am was using the wrong FM something would be suspect.

This is why pilots who don’t care about the uniform or have a negative attitude create resentment.

I'm sorry, did you really just argue that uniform has anything to do with the trust that two pilots can have with one another? That is absolutely nonsensical and laughable to compare to the actual things that generate that trust like shared training and SOP.

If you've looked at a pilot wearing the uniform "wrongly" (however you'd define that) and made a judgment about your ability to fly with them, you're the problem, not them.

Totally missing the point! It’s not at all a matter of what I’m passionate or happen to care about, it’s about us following company policy & procedures. If there’s something I don’t like, I don’t just go off and do my own thing, or worse yet, try to convince others that they should not follow it too. If you don’t like something, work to get it fixed. If you don’t want to do the work to get it fixed, then better be following it.

Wearing the uniform the way we’re supposed to isn’t about “you be you” or “me be me” - that’s exactly the point and why it’s called a “uniform”. This is simple stuff, not too hard to follow.
