Same “crappy product” if you ignore the better reliability, a robust hub and spoke model, seatback entertainment, WiFi, better gate locations, free drinks, better flight times, and better network?

Yup….

Its a similar offering that AA, DL, AS, WN offers vs NK,F9….

Offerings doesn’t show up until irrops affects a ULCC passenger and they can’t be rebooked for a couple days later because the next flight doesn’t leave for 2 days….

I’ve had friends who flew a ULCC because of the price. They had flight get so delayed into the following day…. They ended up buying a ticket on Southwest…

It would have been cheaper to just book that ticket on Southwest from the git go…

To think people think basic economy at a legacy is the same as a ULCC is crazy. Not even on the same realm. The legacies do it better, with better customer service, and with better infrastructure when irops happen. Purest form of copium right there

It’s the same “crappy” product copy/pasted onto a more robust network. They’re still selling a seat and then upcharging for everything else. Just subsidized by premium and CC revenue. The ULCCs will/are adjusting to compete. The current oligopoly just makes that increasingly difficult as scale (route network/frequency) is the main advantage the legacies have at this point.

Objectively false. Legacies have seatback screens, free snacks, good customer service, and more comfortable seats.

Serious question. Flew HNL-DEN recently. I think it was a 777. No screens in our economy seats, though we did have a meal. Are screens coming back to all seats?

I don't think anyone really puts B6 in the NK, F9, or G4 category, which he's obviously referring to. Seatback TVs, free wifi, extra legroom in all seats, free snacks and drinks or anything resembling Mint would never be offered in the ULCC model.

I was always confused as to how the JB/NK merger was even going to work. Were they planning on retiring the NK brand/model and spending an astronomical amount to bring the whole operation up to the JB standard?

Yes, that was Robin’s plan. All Spirit aircraft would’ve been converted and repainted. JetBlue would’ve been much bigger with a larger network instead of being a coastal niche.

Not on the Domestic Configured 77A models…

Regarding the 777 fleet, I’m not entirely sure what the plan is. I think they’ll eventually be retired for the 787s. We do have some of the oldest 777s if I’m not mistaken.

Our 756 fleet will not get a fresh cabin and just be retired when the 787/321NEO/XLR get delivered. They’ll start there before heading to the 777 if I’m not mistaken if I had to guess.

Someone smarter than me, but I believe that route has the A models so definitely not anything impressive if that’s the case.
