ORD Base

It feels stupid making a thread for this, but all I can find are "Yes, ORD is a base for United."

What *kind* of base? Is it a mix of aircraft? Boeing? Airbus? What is the majority?
Thanks in advance

Guppy, 75/76, Fifi, Sparky.

More 737 than Bus, 756 mostly Europe with some domestic. 787 mostly Europe, some Hawaii and Tokyo.

it’s a relatively senior base for some of the fleets these days. 3-4 years ago was trending more middle of the road imo

78 is particularly senior as base has no 777 or 764 and 756 fleet is neither big nor 76 heavy.

It’s not a dumb question. Comparing the narrow body: 737 positions outnumber 320 positions in ORD by a ratio of about 2.25 to 1.

There are about 630 ish FOs on the guppy and just over 360 on the 320 for April bid month. Slightly less on the Capt side for both but the ratio is very close to the above mentioned.

As someone else pointed out there is no 777 domecile. There may in fact be 777 ORD departures (in fact there definitely is) but it would of course be staffed by crews based elsewhere.

787 has almost 300 First Officers which is on the larger side, only SFO has more and it’s in the low 300’s.

I’m sure some 787 pilots can chime in on the more specific information.

Thanks for all the input, it's hard to find this information outside a flight deck

The Airbus out of ORD will see some growth…

when I read that my eyes went 👀. It’s my upgrade of choice, I didn’t mind the 737 but if I was to leave WB I think I’d want to do the bus even at slight seniority loss

I know a few guys on the bus out of Ord. Lots of regional type flying. Which I’m glad we have it in-house instead of farming it out to Skywest or something, but regional flying at mainline pay rates .

That destined to change I sure… But yeah, Airbus flying isn’t great.. I would rather us do the flying than the regionals though.
