Correct, but they might need to buy JB if they want to keep that JFK presence.

If by NYC you mean JFK/LGA - the airports in New York City - then UA is not even close to AA/JB.
Are you including Newark? I’ve read many posts by your colleagues on here that assert EWR is definitely not the same market as JFK/LGA and that’s why UA can definitely just swoop on in and pick up gate space if a theoretical JB/UA merger happens. Which is it? |

But there is no Jet Blue merger happening for the purpose of gaining a couple gates at JFK.
Not to mention the number of gates/slots etc we would have to get rid of to make it happen makes it even a worse deal. Just because some rando blogger trying to get clicks writes a blog that United should buy JetBlue doesn't mean anything. I remember in 2019 the "United is buying Jetblue" rumors. We are in Year 7 of "United is buying Jetblue imminently". |

It’s highly unlikely that you guys (UAL) will buy us; even if there was some minuscule chance of it happening, our management would screw it up like they do everything else. Very few of us realistically think a merger will happen, but it’s fun to think about mostly to take our minds off our idiotic and incompetent BoD and leadership. But what do I know, i’m just a pilot.

We've done fine without a JFK presence so far. 7 daily slots plus whatever else we get is more than enough. There is zero chance that a few gates and slots in JFK is worth acquiring an entire airline. The partnership gives us everything and if it ends some day, that's fine too.

I am no longer at B6, but we all (I along with all former and current JetBlue pilots) know that poor management (along with non pilot ops leadership, dispatch) is the Achilles heal of the company. Being sold to United eliminates that. To your point powers higher up (at jetBlue) will do their best to prevent this considering the prevailing opinion that many on the board treat the airline solely as a venture vehicle to fund all of their side projects........this is where many on the board may have an ambiguous view of their fiduciary responsibilities to the duty of loyalty. |
