Who are you to question how much money someone makes? Now with the shoe on the other foot, who is Smisek or any manager for that matter, to tell you how much you can or can't make. The only way to turn this around is to insist on MORE via JCBA or self help. We shouldn't give a rat's rear how much some greed pig or good manager for that matter makes, so long as they make it somewhere other than from pilot concessions.

When my mechanic charges me less to fix my car, or when the bank calls me and arbitrarily reduces my mortgage or when my girlfriend comes home with a reduced grocery bill, then and only then will I feel like anyone should make a little less. If I were you however, I wouldn't hold your breath.
CEO's do not negotiate per se for the pay packages as most pay packages are the brain-child of "Compensation Consultants" who put together packages to "attract talent". ......what a crock. Corporate treasuries are being looted by this so-called talent at the expense of the stockholders and employees. I don't know what a person should earn as CEO of a company but I do know that if we, the stockholders, don't put the brakes on these compensation packages we are all doomed

Never happen at United. LUAL pilots would complain if god himself were running the show. I GUARANTEE they won't like the next one either. I'm not saying that Jeff is good (of course you'll say that's what I'm saying). But, some people will never be happy...ever.
Call me crazy but I did like Larry. He wasn't perfect by any means but I could tolerate him. Not arrogant by any means, extremely smart, and personable. Kind of dorky. Abnormally large head.

I have to agree. One other helpful quality for Larry and other CEO's like him was that he was approachable, and seemed to genuinely care about his employees. He was an Eagle scout and NOT an ivy league lawyer or accountant, two big pluses in my book. Early on when the merger was first announced, a squadron mate of mine from the 70's at UA emailed me and said " I am sure glad we are getting your management". Imagine my dismay when I had to break the news to him that "they weren't getting our management".

Agree with your assessment of Larry. He was unfairly vilified because he was left to press for the C02 ('05) concessionary contract that actually began under Bethune, who left with a bunch of cash before the contract was negotiated and voted on.
