SLI consideration
 

Years prior to TWA going belly-up some of their aircraft paid more than AMR's for the same equipment.

The higher "past pay" didn't change TWA's career expectations.

I doubt "past pay" will be considered in this SLI.

How much are those TWA guys makin now? At least the one's still at AMR?

Maybe, however, that wasn't true at the time of the prepackaged BK/Acquisition.

You might be right, but there are few similarities between AA/TWA and this SLI.

I still am in favor of the height ratio, IE "Tallest ----> Shortest" in sorting out this SLI discussion. Not cool with that?? How about "A - Z" when it comes to last names.

What we have here is a stalemate...and standoff over pay/equipment with neither side appearing willing to budge. Keep it simple...ala UPS. Works for me. (same dollar amount!)

Now, about that pesky SLI.

I was hoping to simply have the arbitrator designate a random number generator to decide seniority.

I'm down with the height ratio as long as it's shortest to highest, and adjusted for female/male differences when related to the mean avg. when measured against all pilots on the seniority list.

Or we could do it the way the MECs are going about it, an honest to goodness ****ing contest, where velocity and volume get points.

What I find incredibly sad is that our two pilot groups are fighting over potential SLI considerations. This is OUR, both UAL and CO, pilot's opportunity to achieve an industry leading contract. One that would give industry leading pay, work rules for quality of life, and stop the contracting out of our flying bringing all furloughees back.

Instead, our unions prolong the negioations and allow our rights to erode. SkyWest will soon be doing 70 RJ flying out of Houston. Negioating capital will be spend trying to reclaim this. Everyday an aircraft moves at our substandard pay, the new company saves money. Our poor workrules allow the company to work us an additional day or two a month. There are over a thousand pilots at UAL working a career outside of their choosen profession.

All the drama needs to stop and we need an industry leading contract now regardless of SLI considerations. The SLI will go to arbitation and if done correctly, everyone will be mad anyway.

Just out of curiosity...how did CAL determine seniority within the new hire classes? Was it by age or some other assinine method like last 4 of your social?

I'm not a CAL pilot, but their class seniority is by age, hence the junior guy in class wears a baby pacifier, their version of the 8-ball.
