Recall short term reality
UAL Only Airline Cutting Domestic Capacity in Q1, Says Analyst - Stocks To Watch Today - Barrons.com
What might counter the effects of this "capacity discipline" drive by UAL Holdings? Is it related to aircraft painting and is the talk about improved route pairings and utilization efficiency on the United side really going to have an effect on recalls? Cynical me remains in the long drawn out camp. |
Let's hope the cuts are all RJ related...

Indeed. Good point.

Now is the time to cut bait or just hand over the career......
Time will tell what happens. Hopefully ALPA is listening! |
people , people, people. let's add in some freaking realism and put this crap to bed to those who think they are going to be recalled "soon"
i was hired in oct 07 and here is my timeline for call back to each. it will be a min 2 years to cal and 3-4 years to UAL - i thik they will prevent people from leaving "cal" and going to "UAL" in the JCBA so that wont happen ( or have a chance to) UAL is still soliciting LOA's for upcoming months, they have no delivery timeline of planes scheduled, and they sure as hell arent getting any more flying in the schedule-- so that equates to 0 pilots--- sure we might have a medical, LOA, or a retirement here and there but someone always picks up the open time-- so no need for new people-- add in an agressive painting schedule, oil going to 100 and trying to have as much cash on hand as possible for upcoming events ( i swear to god if they pay out a MF dividend, im gonna snap) the only growth is on the cal side and if ALPA doesnt win the whole 70 seater out of IAH or EWR i will snap then too. ual is looking to expand the express carriers as much as they can, but they are limited too--- have you seen the "new hiring mins" nothing has changed they are still LOOOOOOOWWWWWWW--- i dont know how colgan is staffing their airline-- they advertize everyday on 350.com. Also, they are increasing codeshares and joint ventures as much as possible. the writing is on the wall every move UAL makes, truly means less pilots-- unless we get some phenominal work rules that are manpower +, it will just suck- and of course mgmnt has no incentive-- they are making a ton of cash without a jcba ( sure they could make more- but they are just as happy making what they are right now- b/c its more than they have made in 20 freaking years) just stating the obvious , b/c when a person says , "oh ill be back in a year"-- i just snub my nose and think to myself -- u are a tool ( unless you are in the top 100 on the furlough list- maybe- and NO you wont be going to guam) you optimists began saying oh, UAl will be calling back in APIL '11--- i mean not even close-- so get a dose or realism ( not pessimism... realism) SKIPPY |

And when do u propose this jcba will be complete ?
Mgmnt has little incentive to get a jcba and every incentive to cause as much delay, confusion, and animosity as they can. And they are doing a decent job too |

And they are doing a decent job too I know when the JCBA will be done just as much as you or anyone else does...the one thing that I sincerely hope for is that it will have better work rules, scope, manpower language that will do the most to get everyone back as soon as possible or dont even present it to the group to vote on...let alone $$ leading industry. Can it get much worse?? I hope that the expidited mediation will help things along..I do disagree with you in that mgmnt does want this contract to be settled. I would estimate the stock price to react quite nicely to a contract that is done...and satisfying the shareholders is a goal for them. |
The capacity decrease is from an aggressive narrowbody painting schedule.
The one manpower positive I see for UAL is going to a 6 month PC/PT cycle this year. |
