Instead we seem to be stuck in this subservient, self-defecating mind frame.
You ****** on yourself? Weird.

The only way we are going to solve this is to get the SLI finished. Until then, UAL can violate our scope, CAL can fly routes that should be flown by UAL, and furloughs will be on the street out of seniority order.

I'm all for a quick JCBA and SLI.

That 'quick' mentality is what produced the "AWESOME"/current P.O.S. CBA'02 that currently resides at CAL.

If the company is willing to come to the table and play ball with substance, I will be the first to line up to 'play'. Until then, doing the negotiations half-a$$ for the sake of doing it "quick" makes NO SENSE. If the negotiation process is considered a two way street, then the company best step up in order to drive on it as well.

This (J)CBA will most likely going to a "Once in a Career" shot to draft/vote/get the Industry Leading CBA that WE all deserve....especially after years of 'un-paid loans' that BOTH sides have suffered at the hands of their pre-merger Mgt. Call the extra 12-18 months an eternity, but taking the time to "ink something right", is nothing short of "worth it".

FUPM....."now".

I can't think of any junior person at CAL who shares your sentiment/hopes for a quick SLI. I'm willing to bet the longer it takes to get one with UAL furloughs still out there - the better the bottom 1/3rd at CAL will fair with our longevity clock still ticking away. After all, it's all about me.

Not sure that will matter if(and they most likely will) the arbitrators use a seniority snapshot from when "constructive notice occurred"(a.k.a. corporate announcement/closure or some point in between).

I agree 100%! Let's get this thing done RIGHT!

Until the company decides that they want to negotiate in good faith there is NOTHING we can do at the table. As far as I know, the company has yet to present any counter proposals to our Dec proposal! So what should we do? Beg? There are some SOLID RED LINES that we shouldn't even consider crossing, so this won't likely happen fast anyway. Heck, fuel is rocketing skyward as I type... That bolsters the companies position on compensation, but it probably makes 50 seat flying look even more heinous than it aleady is! Has there ever been a more complicated negotiation at any airline?

What WE can do is present a unified pilot group that knows and flys their respective CBA!! Anyone doing favors to the company now is only extending our collective pain. We MUST clearly show them that the status quo is not good for them either. I will not be waiving any part of my contract, accepting voluntary provisions (JRM, Ops incentive, Engine Run, etc...), or doing anyone elses job to keep the wheels greased. I'm not advocating or participating in a job action...but if the company is so pleased with my current contract -- then it's my duty to adhere to it.

Let's keep focused on getting the results we need and not get sidetracked by all the BS along the way. It's going to be a painful 1-2 years...accept it and move forward.

My guess is the recent rise in fuel costs have caused both parties to go to their respective corners and wait out matters.

Higher fuel gives the company even less incentive to hand out pay raises. And the MEC's don't want to negotiate as the company's financial situation is declining.

We probably has a window of opportunity this past fall but it has probably closed. Everyone will now wait out the events in the middle east and see how high sustained fuel prices affect the company and the economy.

Wadr, but are you really serious? I think we are worth X dollars. That is the contract I expect. We do not and will not accept a variable pay structure that Tilton was proposing.

It is our responsibility to fight for what we are worth and it is the company's responsibility to generate the revenue(read ticket prices) to pay us.

There is no reason the next recall can't be to the UAL side. None. And don't give me the "well CAL has aircraft orders" crap. Frickin adjust your block hours by 1%, it is completely allowed in the contract. Instead we seem to be stuck in this subservient, self-defecating mind frame. We've been taking this and not complaining for far too long. What next, park a couple UAL 767-200s so CAL exercise a few more 787 options?

And no, this is not a gripe against our CAL brethren, they are along for the ride just like us.

UAL MEC - grow a pair, please! Your lack of action has disenfranchised 1437 of you supposed members.

2xfurlough, hired in the last century and still being outsourced by everyone else[/QUOTE]

Kc I remember the first time I was recalled and sat and listened to Tilton and out great ALPA MEC telling us that they intended to furlough us a second time as soon as the over 60 rule came into effect. They have thrown us under the bus too often to save the top guys. They were almost laughing at us in class. I wish I had recorded it on a camera phone I would have posted it on youtube.

Good luck to you hope you get a recall notice soon if that's what you want.

A 2172 and 1437
