Now, pilots not being proactive, sitting back and just watching. You betcha. I personally believe we couldn't have ever done anything even remotely close to what the company and mother nature combined to provide. You can go look at the bts.gov data for the summer of 2000. Take a look at the system totals.

Sure, guys taxied slow, whatever. You don't have to do nada for sweet 16 when your starting 4 hours late......

I personally believe we couldn't have ever done anything even remotely close to what the company and mother nature combined to provide. You can go look at the bts.gov data for the summer of 2000. I also noticed that crew scheduling went t!ts up around Apr of that year. They just gave up. I had a 4 day domestic id and I deadheaded on EVERY leg just trying to catch up with the next flight that would operate. Finally on day four we were going to fly DFW-LAX-IAD.... They didn't tell us the DFW-LAX flight was 3 hours delayed until AFTER we got to the airport. Since we were illegal for the duty day they just DH'd us home to IAD.
We couldn't have caused anywhere near the problems that mother nature, ual, and ATC did.
