Any update as to your comparisons? I start training late January and would like to hear how reserve life is in IAH or EWR.

Many RSV trips end up being very productive because of DH and add ons. At CAL, staffing is so poor that no matter the work rules, you're typically one of few remaining FO's. Ex, the trip I'm on has 9 hours flying, with 13 hours DH...and I'm not done yet! I've been on the 756 for 9 months and have broken guarantee every month except 1.

Our pay sucks, but when compared to how much I've been flying, it works out to be a pretty good deal.

Wow. At US, maybe because they are staffing for retirements, I fly 20-40 hours per month. This November, I flew 4 days total on short call, and wasn't even used on Thanksgiving! This month I see some who have no time yet. All flying is based on who has the least time. Is reserve at CAL intended to be staffed like that? Do you get peace meal flying? In two years, I have only flown a trip (or a part of one trip), then gone home. Next day another story, but very little DH, and no piecing together of trips.

THAT is the difference between the reserve systems--the management running them. L-UAL will find out soon enough, unfortunately.

Someone please tell me how FIFO will apply when the trip in open time is to a special qual airport? Seems to me that if the next pilot up to bat doesn’t have that special qual then he will be bypassed. BTW there is no add pay for special qual airports in this TA. So I guess the folks that got stuck with these quals will continue to get screwed under this TA. Hey, but they are in the minority so screw them, right?

Now that we're no longer LUAL or LCAL reserves, a reminder that we can adjust or personal drop reserve days at noon CST on the 25th. I just dropped some reserve days so despite the poor staffing, there are still some opportunities to manage QOL in the reserve meat grinder. Call futures desk.
