then to sims. Met union and company management, everyone very nice and glad to see us. 3 747 capt, 2 757 capt, 2 320 capt 2 777 f/o and 3 320 f/0. Pay 88-191. Ioe for all beginning of dec. Will bid for remaining of dec. Just out of curiousity, what 'mgt types' have stuck their head's in thus far?? Have the likes of "Fred", or "Friends of Fred" - IE Dave Lynn dare show their faces yet?? I know it's a FAR CRY from where you guys want to be sitting right now, but thanks again for the info. Good luck to you all. |
Not Fred but his number 2 and some others followed
and followed next day by the CO MEC vice. Obviously a different view of facts and positions. Will repeat, everyone very friendly and welcoming. On the bid, was said I think i likely be able to put in a bid, not for sure. A few are looking at ioe right after TDay. |
As long as you are able to log into ccs, you have the contractual right to bid for your subsequent month in pbs. I can't believe no one from the union has been In to give you a quick guide to use it. If you are a lineholder, you can bid for a line. Reserve, you can bid for days off after your ioe is completed. Pbs bidding opens on the 8th each month and closes on the 13th with awards coming out on the 18th. Anyone on this board that is a ual newhire to cal and needs info to find, bid, and see pbs through ccs, please send me a pm and I will help ASAP.

Was responding to previous comment that we couldn't bid. Said maybe I misunderstood that I could bid. We did get a couple of hours training. Enough to be dangerous. CO system gamesmanship completely different in bid logic.
Thanks for the offer though. |

Coto,
Not versed in bidding but wondering why you think age 65 would show up on the January bid at CAL? Thanks. Dv |
As I understand it, CO usually has 2 bids per year to cover anticipated vacancies for the coming six months. The January bid will be covering openings thru June. Retirements will begin again in December of next year. Between training instructors, PI's etc to cover a fully operational training center, and guys going out early to burn up sick time, they are going to be going thru pilots. Although they have spooled up training for new hires, the impact will be far greater when 777 and 767 captains retire creating a chain of training events. Just my opinion though.

The "system bid" occurs twice per year and projects out at least 12 months (once it went out to 18 months) so the Jan bid will definitely start taking into account the mandatory retirements. IMO they will be training new pilots for several years now.
