L-CAL's CCS Posting on Friday evening
If you are a B737 Captain or First Officer in IAH, EWR, CLE, or LAX that does a straight pickup of a full trip pairing from open time that originates on December 17, 2011 through December 19, 2011, that pickup will be treated as a “voluntary junior manning” (VJM) event and you will be paid a minimum of 4:30/day or flight time flown, whichever is greater, at 150% of your normal hourly rate. |

Don't know what domestic Trans-cons you've been flying??
All I'm gonna say about that. My seniority keeps me down south. |
currently on reserve, yesterday they placed a trip on my line that was illegal without looking at it. Today they called me not to assign me a trip but asked if I would pick up the trip. When I asked if it was legal for me to take it, they skipped over the question and said, "yes or no will I pick up the trip." When I looked it up it was illegal again.
Is there any penalty to them if I take an illegal trip? Don't they look at this stuff? One was going to give me 34 hours in six days and the other was 37 hours in seven day. |

Accept the trip then prior to signing the release call crew coord and say you don't know it didn't get noticed before but you're illegal for this leg.
|
Also, if you're on reserve, why were they asking if you would accept/pickup the trip. My experience on reserve was that there was no "asking."

To add to that: use extreme caution - MANY new schedulers right now that have no idea what they're doing. I've had to call them out several times this month already. Whether it was innocent or not - irrelevant. KNOW THY CONTRACT! I hope the new hire UAL guys got a good briefing about the scheduling section, I see some good info. has already been posted. If unsure, call the UDO.

I got the call at 0530 this morning. I'm pretty senior, so guys are not answering.

Looks like the company's plan to restrict voluntary reduced flying to only the 1st half of December has worked out like a charm in the 2nd half of the month.
I'm sure though that the company will find a way to blame the union in the press. "We are trying to increase our staffing, but the furloughed United pilots are not responding to the job offers in the manner we had hoped in order to alleviate these problems." |
