yeah well, they are going to need to attend all job fairs--- there is a reason ual furloughees arent going back ( or will go back) the new hires can be the new furlough cushion and the abused reserve tools. ENJOY-- those who can financially wait it out or wait to get to the ual side--- will--

I think that you are in a really good position. Most legacy's are staffed with REALLY old pilots. It's hard to find anyone under 40.

I know it takes some foresight, but anyone hired in their 20's (or even early 30's) will have terrific seniority in 15 years.

As far as only working for SWA, FEDEX, or UPS......UAL classes were full of these pilots in the 1990's. Nobody stays on top forever, so be careful picking a "winner" when things change so rapidly in this industry. UAL went from BILLION dollar profits to bankruptcy in just a few years. I wouldn't feel completely safe at ANY airline. (This is directed at other posters who suggested these were the only airlines worth looking at).

Don't listen to the guys who dream about being plumbers. This is still a really cool job. It's not nearly what it used to be, but I still wouldn't pick a different career.

Yeah? But who will they be hiring for?

There are still two separate airlines here. I got a feeling I know which one. Make sure you ask them when you attend the job fair.

To say that it'll be for "United" makes me throw up a little.

Thank you very much for your comments! Yeah I definately keep an eye on the industry and what is going on with different companies because as we all know, and just like you mentioned, a company can be great one day and gone the next. I always think of Pan Am on that one.

I've received a lot of great comments and information from you all and I really appreciate it! This will really help me make a much more informed decision than I would have been able to before. If there is any information that I can give or anything I can do to help you all who helped me, please give me a shout! We as pilots need to stick together especially as we move into the future. Thank you all again!
