Default EmployeeRes Questions....

So listing with EmployeeRes for the first time today. I've run into two questions....

One: The company and ALPA suggests I should list for the flight, and then do another listing as a jumpseater if I think I will need to jumpseat. Nobody has explained how to list as a jumpseater, and I don't see that option while making a listing.

Two: When I list for the flight, if I select first class, there is a service charge applied, and it asks if I want to pay for it with a credit card or payroll deduct. What if I don't get into first class when I check in? Are the charges reversed? Are charges held until you are actually checked in to a first class seat?

Any help appreciated from guys/gals that are familiar with the system!

Cheers

Under the "Select pass riders" screen after you have selected your flight, you should see a drop down menu next to your name. For pilots and FAs that has a "Jumpseat" option for you to select. This doesn't show for you?

I believe if you don't get first you aren't charged and that the charge is held until you are cleared for a seat. Someone else want to take a stab at it?

From my experience as an Express pilot, back when we had payroll deduct in EmployeeRes was to always use that option. They used to charge for passes (even in coach), with that option, you were only charged when a boarding pass was generated. Where I used to commute out of, we always used to list on Express flights (because you couldn't list jumpseat on those) in order to give the other commuters a heads up, then just not check in. You were never charged if you didn't check in.

The same goes for First, if they don't issue you a First seat, then you don't get charged. If you pay via credit card, you get charged immediately, then it takes a while to reverse the charges.

In short, I'd go payroll deduct. I think you'll like EmployeeRes over SkyNet.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Strangely, I don't have a "Jumpseat" option on the Select Pass Riders pull down menu. Maybe I got fired.

Smart doing the changeover on a weekend so if you have a problem you can't get it fixed until Monday. Maybe I'll miss my trip? Oh darned.

That's interesting. Helped walk a guy through the whole process yesterday for his commute because he couldn't find it either. He assumed it was on the first page where you search for flights. It's on the page that pops up in the second step after you have already selected the flight you want to list on, the one that lists all your eligible pass riders. Should be there in the drop down box next to your name as an option. Hmmmm...wonder if it is a UAL pilot/FA issue only.

I'm sure we know who's fault that is if true. Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope it gets resolved for all soon.

Think I've got it figured. When I list for mainline, I see the Jumpseat option. When I list for United Excuse, that option doesn't exist. Since they've taken over all our flying, that makes things challenging.

Thanks for the help!

If you don't GET first clas (which by the way is a waste of time) then they don't charge you for it. but! keep your boarding pass just to verify it.. Everybody lists for 1st. very few is any get it. I Do got Economy plus quite a bit though and Business on the 3 class airplanes.

Indeed that has been my experience in the past. Always list for first, never get it. However, in the new system they demand payment upfront via credit card, or payroll deduct. Seems like an easy way to get screwed. Charge credit card; UAL "forgets" to reimburse.

Always go Payroll deduct. any other way is a crapshoot. It seems the new CAL accounting system can't even pay Bills or EXPENSES on time yet. I'll be damned if I'd trust them with My credit card. They could do REAL damage to you.
