The right to seek self help is not just limited to labor. I certainly don't want to put ideas into the heads of any union busting managers, but a review of some of the dirty tricks Lorenzo pulled on returning strikers especially after order and award will give some insight into what all can be done by the airline.

I misunderstood your post thinking you were referring only to the 30 day cooling off period. No review needed here. It took quite a few years for the 570 to get their rightful seniority reinstated over our scabs.

Yes management has the right to self help as well. They will be very vocal in their intentions leading to a strike. The Ferris road show videos are evidence of that.

[QUOTE=Captain Bligh;1211136]Spot on! Regularguy's entire post is just one example of why "old guys" are an asset to this pilot group.[/QU

Unless a large number of pilots cross the picket lines, on either UAL or CO, the company has not prepared to run the airline in a strike. If we are released, UCH will be shut down so there is, in all likelyhood, no point in management doing some of the Lorenzo or Ferris tactics. REbidding the airline or out of senoriety stuff is probably not going to happen.

As has been stated before by others, be prepared to hear spin on everything the management says. It does look, however, like they are preparing new data to take the entire ALPA group back to court for a new injunction. I woulnd't be surprised that they attempt to take away our right to strike via the judiciary.

Stay cool. Follow the rules.

Very likely. There will be no way a contract will be announced on June 15th.
Smisek's EGO will never allow the pilots to win...i.e. set a hard date for completion and have it come to fruition.

The contract could be 99.9% complete but he will play the delay game a little bit to bait the group to some sort of action then hello lawsuit. A successful lawsuit will make him feel like he asserted his power over us...he likes it and in his mind he needs to feel he won.

As always, its about power, control with ego thrown in...not about money.

As the poster above stated, stay cool...and document everything. Don't let Smisek win. In fact, I'll bet nothing would infuriate him more than an absolute perfectly run operation on the 15th and after.

You are probably correct, but who cares if Smisek gets some credit for this. At some point peace has to be made (assuming they want it) and JS is the CEO, like him or not. I can guarantee you after 9+ years of hammering Tilton we got less than zero out of all the antics.

But you sure had better give credit to JH and some to JP (he actually came on board after being shown the truth) for getting this done!

I didn't intend to convey that anyone should give a rats pitooty if he gets credit. If in fact he does play that game, let him be his adolescent self (think response to losing the Hobby battle) and take whatever credit he wants..if... at the end of it all a successful contract emerges.

The first point I did want to convey is that don't be surprised that there is no contract on the 15th AND that the MEC's soften their stand a bit. The MEC's know the contract is there but have to wait for Smisek to give a green light. Secondly, the 15th, absent a contract, would be the
WORSE time to vent frustration. I think Smisek is waiting for that with bated breath.

If you are a B737 or B756 Captain or First Officer in IAH, EWR, CLE, or LAX who does a straight pickup after the issuance of this bulletin of a full trip pairing from open time that originates on June 14, 2012 through June 18, 2012, that pickup will be treated as a “Voluntary Junior Manning” (VJM) event and you will be paid a minimum of 4:30/day or flight time flown, whichever is greater, at 150% of your normal hourly rate.
Please note that this offer does not apply to pairings acquired over this timeframe as a trip trade. The eligibility of “trip splits” for this program will be subject to crew scheduling approval at the time the split is executed.

hummmm VJM or.......
calling all saviors.

no thanks, I am good.

Different coach different game plan. Tilton never had the first inclination to run an airline. He was brought in to do a bankruptcy that's his specialty. Smisek is supposed to be running a company with a future game plan beyond simply taking it through bankruptcy and then off loading it.
