I don't seem to have an issue using the kiosks. Swipe my ID or my passport and up pops my itinerary for check-in or will ask for three letter identifier for destination to find the itinerary. Done in under a minute.

I will say the older CAL kiosks from a few years ago allowed an employee to make travel plans on it if you wanted to make travel plans at the airport.
Maybe it was because I didn't use my passport. Could have; but never used it in the past, and actually, I didn't see a place to swipe one.

Didn't try my UAL badge, either.

This was from kiosks I have used twice a year for the last few years, and as far as I know, are still the same units, just different software.

Not sure about the passports, but:

The Kiosks have a card reader that looks like a gas station credit card reader, slide your ID in that thing and watch the magic happen.

Not sure if the L-UAL kiosks are the same as the L-CAL kiosks, but at the top of the CAL machines there is a horizontal passport reader. That's in addition to the ID/Credit Card reader located on the lower part of the machine. I tend to use the passport reader because it's a pain to get all the stuff off my ID clip to get to my ID.

Default 2 1/2 years in--they're doing great

"Phase 4 training will resume today, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012. The interruption in Phase 4 training was due to a software error in the course content that led to inaccurate record keeping. Without accurate records a pilot cannot receive FAA credit. As a result, those pilots previously completing any part of Phase 4 must retake the course."

Still haven't received proof that I was paid for Phase 3B so definetly not in hurry to do Phase 4. This is icing on the cake for me. Get bent Fred and Howard...

Yes, but per the directive from Howard Attarian, they are generously giving those who completed even one module of this training phase already an extra hour of pay for having to redo it again. More than I expected and was actually shocked to see that.

Default CAL MEC Special Blastmail, 28 Aug

CCS AND FOMS DOWN

Over the past hour, we have received calls and emails from pilots wondering why CCS is down and when it might be back up. FOMS is down as well. In our “IT company with wings,” neither L-CAL or L-UAL can dispatch or operate a flight. We have been in contact with management multiple times regarding the issue and they do not know why CCS or FOMS are down, or how long it will be until they are restored. This will, of course, make it exceedingly difficult to operate the airline.

Please continue to do your best to operate your flights and comply with the contract and the FARs. We will provide an additional update as more information becomes available.

This airline is a bloody embarrassment. Had a gate agent come into the cockpit and issue a 3 minute apology as to why we were delayed.

Imo, the company lost the pilots months if not years ago, now they are picking off employees one by one. Credibility is gone. Sad.

Will heads roll, or are promotions and bonuses for the guilty in order?
