There's no guarantee against furlough at UAL, though at this point in the cycle I find it highly unlikely. Notice how many have said stay at the regional? The reality is you have no choice.

I knew when I posted this I was going to get a biased opinion by the major pilots. I know how most of you feel about the regionals...but that is Ok I just really wanted to hear about the realities of the situation. I appreciate all the advice.

Pilot's Wife, read between those lines. You have your answer, and his. It sounds like you're tired of hearing that too and hearing it from him. Go kick his butt out of bed and tell him to accept. We expect to hear that he has done this by the end of the day. And now for the "signs and wonders" argument.

A farmer realized a rain of biblical proportions was going to cause a flood. The state even called up the National Guard. The farmer prayed that he would be saved from the flood. The Army came by and said hop into the truck, we're evacuating you. Farmer said no God will save me. The Navy came by in a boat and said climb aboard, we're evacuating you. Farmer said no God will save me. The Air Force came by in a helicopter and said get in the basket, we're evacuating you. Farmer said no God will save me. Farmer drowns. In heaven farmer asks God why didn't you save me? God says what else could I do? I sent the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force and you turned them all down!

You are so correct. Seniority number is EVERYTHING. Guys 500 numbers above me (about 6 months) upgraded to the left seat in 5 years and have been there ever since. Me, I upgraded at 5 years, got bumped. Upgraded at 10 years, got bumped. Now, sitting at 16 years waiting to upgrade. What a difference a few hundred numbers make. Tell your husband to RUN, not walk, to get a class date.

Where? I'm serious. I'm from the Bay Area. Where can you afford within 2 hours in commute traffic. Maybe there's somewhere I don't know.
