What, vacancies on the 747???? CAL guys better be able to bid on these!! They better not be awarded out of seniority!! This is going to wreak havoc on CAL pilot emotions if they can't bid it!

It's an existing base. We aren't going into EWR and opening a brand new 747 base and then bidding out all the seats really quickly so that CAL guys don't have a shot at it in a year.

Your demanding all the captain slots on the 737!!! Saying their out of seniority order. Last I checked UAL doesnt have any 737s!

No kidding. They just announced another monthly vacancy bid with a bunch more 747 FO openings plus 767 and A-320.

As the retirements keep happening its going to keep moving, so 5 year 747 co-pilot is completely possible.

With that question, moving forward are we going to do a monthly vacancy bid like now or adopt the CAL way and do them only twice a year?

Will the -400's even be around in 5 years? I thought they were due to be gone by 2017 or so?

I hope we don't see too many fleet reductions. I don't mind replacements, but reductions are bad.

LOL. I think you are going to be shocked at how many people here aren't going to jump on 737 Capt slots. We have mostly big aircraft and the Airbus is way more fun.

We gotta start another thread on this one. I think your way off on the 73 CA seats. 110ish WB and 220ish NB is mostly big aircraft?

So you are counting 90 757's as little aircraft with our Airbus LOL!!!!

Lets See....

Big Aircraft
UAL 747 and 777 = 72 aircraft
CAL 777 = 22 aircraft

Little aircraft
UAL A-320 = 147
CAL 737 = 240

So we have most of the big airplanes, and you have most of the little ones.

Let's see. And being a captain on a "little aircraft" for 30 years may exceed the "career expectations" (career earnings) of someone is a captain on a "big aircraft" for just the last year of his career.

Are we talking big or WB cause you are leaving some out here? Semantics can be funny.
