I assume then you are at sCAL. If what you say is true then there is a huge cultural change a coming for either the sUAL or sCAL pilots. "I got a new Captain every time I passed thru a hub last time around." Hey maybe it's you? You could be on the Capt's "no fly list?" Just saying ;) |
Purely a function of staffing. As a borderline reserve 737 CA I'm always flying with new guys every swing thru a hub as they are robbed from me, or I'm being robbed from them, for the ever present crisis du jour.

That kind of crap never used to happen at UAL. As a reserve maggot, this is one of the more heinous changes I have to deal with now. I used to fly a trip and go home. None of this "call to be released" shiiiiit after I've just flown a long four day. I can't believe that this was considered acceptable by professionals and that 67% voted for this crap. I can only hope that some of the super senior types who voted this in get to spend some quality time on CAL reserve. Aside from the pay, reserve at sUAL was a pretty good gig. Now, its morphing into miasma. Still retching.

Not sure but my bet would be with the middle to lower seniority guys pushing it to the 67% mark.

Regularguy,
In a round about sort of way...thats what I was getting to. I never fly with the same guy consistently on my trips. I'm usually meeting the guy at departure time. I got a new Captain every time I passed thru a hub last time around. I think thats why guys don't give it much of a thought going to look for their partner at show time. At least that has been my experience on the 737. |
As a lineholding CA, I can't remember the last time FO's rotated out for any reason. They're usually there in the beginning and flying the entire trip

Trip verification means you know you have a trip and you checked in for the thing. You are an adult so you know you have a responsibility to be there. I'll show up, check my v-file, make sure iPad is updated, check pilot bulletins and then check paperwork/weather in E-Sign & Fly. After that I'll proceed to get the required body fuel (i.e. coffee) and get to the airplane. If the captain hasn't shown up by 30 minutes to go, I'll make a call to operations. |

I look forward to reading about your experiences this summer. You will continue to be surprised at how inventive the company can be, even with a new and improved contract.
But, it's the law of the land and just like this whole idiotic ISL argument, there isn't much squat I can do about it. I think I'll go fishing. :D |
