Capt with Capt; FO with FO=LOL

Now we know what the delay in JCBA was all about, upgrade as many captains as possible.

ARBITRATION PRE-HEARING STATEMENT OF THE CONTINENTAL PILOTS’ MERGER COMMITTEE
The Continental Merger Committee proposes to integrate the Continental and United pilot seniority lists by merging Captains with Captains and First Officers with First Officers. Although many have advocated extreme positions in prior cases involving seniority list integration (SLI), the Continental Merger Committee has determined that proposing a reasonable resolution of this dispute will better serve the interests of the combined pilot group. Thus, notwithstanding the superior equities the Continental pilots bring to the merged airline, we offer the Arbitration Board a moderate proposal, which it can adopt as its own.

Upgrades are from age 65, not anything else.

+1

Look out though, Staller will be on here soon telling us he was 'right-sized' and disenfranchised

vspeed,

You cal guys need to be calling your reps to confirm this. Can't believe Pierce would be that dumb. I wonder if the arbitrators laughed when they read it - maybe in private chambers.

vspeed 04-12-2013 09:21 AM

I don't need to do anything...My opinion doesn't count...what's done is done and the arbitrator will decide. The vote already occurred and the SLI was figured out even before the JCBA was voted in...the rest of this time is posturing and stretching out the summer

Well we saw what the arbitrators did with USAair and their "shoot for the moon" approach. How well has that worked out?

Pierce. All y'all must be so proud.

This must be a joke. Unless they want to provoke a US/AW- style blood feud, and continued separate ops?

It's not a joke.

At the same time, it's only the Pre-Hearing statement. Each side can suggest anything---it's what the arbitrators determine fair that matters. Both sides are gonna have an entire week to present their case (starting with CAL on Monday) so this is just the start.

For UA pilots, the UAL Merger committee has posted the full UAL and CAL statements on their committee website (ual.alpa.org).

My opinion doesn't count either, but I think you really should read up on the process, and actually read the opening letters.

There is no possible way that you can effectively merge Cap with Cap and F/O with F/O in the manner that I think you're advocating. The process agreement ensures that no pilot on either independent list will move ahead of the next adjacent pilot on said list regardless of what seat they actually hold currently. There will be no shuffling of the individual lists. I believe the LCAL opener is advocating merging Cap to Cap, etc in a slotting scheme that respects the individual lists. IMHO, this is a very unlikely outcome as it completely disregards ALPA merger policy (the components of which were basically left unmentioned in the LCal opening letter). Even before changes to ALPA merger policy after the Nic award (which is a major reset of ALPA merger policy), all of the most recent mergers included a slotting scheme that respected differences between aircraft brought to the merger.
