Reserve Rules

When do the new reserve rules go into effect ie: 13hr long call...Is it not until after SLI or is it a certain date?

From the latest CALALPA blast mail,
NEXT STEPS
The next issue of the “Next Steps” publication, produced by the Joint Implementation Team, is expected to be available early next week. New provisions planned for the July bid period include an increase in the value of vacation credit and UPA items that will be implemented earlier than as indicated in LOA 26. Several items will be of particular interest to L-CAL reserve pilots:
• ‘A’ reserve pilot call out time has increased to 13 hours prior to departure
• Both ‘A’ and ‘B’ reserve release times on the last day of reserve have improved
• ‘A’ reserve schedules are now allowed for up to 50 percent of the awarded reserve lines

Do reserves often get shuffled throughout the system? For instance, would it be reasonable to expect as a EWR or IAH reserve to fly in GUM at some point, or are the bases kept more separated?

On the LCAL side RSV's are treated as rented mules. If you're on the 737 you'll service very base, except Guam. 756 will RSV's cover both IAH and EWR. Disclaimer, technically pilots are not supposed to be system wide RSV, just reserve for their base. In practice, they are system wide RSV's!
