Post SLI LEC Elections

The first MEC Chairman elected after SLI will set the tone of ALPA/company relations for the foreseeable future. We all watched and suffered as Pierce partnered with the company to drive a wedge between the pilots groups and saw what that Pierce-company relationship did for the pilots. The same management is still in place. Let us not allow a single individual to gain at the expense of the pilot group ever again. When you vote for a LEC representative, you are voting for the person that will elect the next MEC Chairman of the new United. The last 3 years are a good reminder of what being complacent can do to your career. The LEC elections are important.

"GET INVOLVED"

In a merger, is the vote a simple majority, or do the LEC reps vote the number of pilots they represent as in the national election? I'm guessing that the LEC's won't be voting for the other guy, so isn't a matter of math?

If multiple candidates from each airline are running, what a complete and utter cluster that would be....which is why that's probably what will happen.

So far.. 4 FO's running, 2 Capt's, in the NYC Council.
1 FO is a LUAL Guy (current Vice Chair), everyone else is LCAL.

Thanks Lee.
Surprised that we haven't seen anyone else from the LUAL Side step up. Was really hoping for at least 5 people for each position~
When you think about it, there are going to be over 2000 pilots in the New Council 5.
4 Candidates for Nominations for FO Rep (of which, 2 are current Reps) and 2 Candidates for Nomination for Capt Rep (both of which are LCAL Reps) is not what I was expecting.

Hopefully a few more will step up to the plate.
Still need someone to throw their name in the hat for SecTres too!

^ Great to hear (or should I say read..)
I got an ALPA Email from a Rob S who is the current NYC UAL Vice Chair, is this the same person?

Personally, I hope that the new Council LEC is made up of a combination of LUAL and LCAL pilots... for not only Unity purposes, but for difference of opinions and views.

I think you know it won't work that way. EWR,IAH,CLE and GUM will go to CAL and IAD,ORD,DEN,SEA,SFO and LAX will go to UAL. Who do you think will control the MEC post election?
