People expect so much but get disappointed by reality. In both of these cases, too bad, I did prepare.
Opportunity is the intersection of luck and preparation so try not to give yourself too much credit, but congrats on your fortunes. |

I have no dog in this hunt, but failing to admit that luck had anything to do with your success to this point is completely disingenuous. I know dozens of guys that walked the same path as you, kept their nose clean, worked hard, and chased their dream only to have the misfortune of multiple furloughs and bankruptcys of the late 90's and early 2000's.

Absolutely. I don't know about you, but my paycheck is made out to me. I got into this business because "I" wanted to fly airplanes and "I" wanted to fly for a major airline.
I did not get into this business so I can carry the weight of the pilot group on my shoulders. I could care less. I followed a narrow path in college and sacrificed while some of my friends were partying all the time and chasing tale. I got on at CAL in 2005 due to that work and preparation finally meeting a little luck and here I am. Do I feel bad that a lot of my college friends just got bumped by a bunch of UAL furloughees, nope, they choose that path to delay their career progress while I always took the first regional upgrade and got stuck in bases that I did not want to be in, etc. Justice is served and that is how it plays out.... Anyone that does not like this post is most likely a democrat. |

Nope. He won't. His left arm is going to get tired from yanking all that gear though, because I can't imagine anyone giving him a landing.

Many made it to the majors, some are still at the regional level, many more quit aviation all together. There is no predicting the future in this business beyond the next 4 weeks.

I disagree, some people made bad choices, like going to Midway Airlines, staying at Comair, going to Evergreen, etc..... Choices have a lot to do with it. You are only as good/bad as your last decision..... |

Here is an earlier post by you.
" What am I missing, the list seems fair... I am a 2005 CAL guy and I don't see a problem with the list. I am merged in with 1998 UAL pilots. I was born in 1976, all of the UAL pilots near me in seniority were born in the early 1960s...." I was no math major, buuuuuttttt born in 1976 does not = 35 :) Keep up the good work:rolleyes:

DMC12, you are probably just trying to rouse a little temper for entertainment purposes ;) In all honesty, good luck and enjoy your new company.

For the love of APC forums and the industry I am thankful that your SLI is over and it doesn't seem to be going the way of AWA/Airways (and to a lesser extent SWA/Airtran).
I hope the attitude I have seen thus far carries into the future... "done deal, now move on and make money." Godspeed to all. |
