delays unacceptable

"The PBS program relies on several imported data files including trip sets, absence data, flight/duty time history and more used to effectively process bid awards. These data issues are causing delays in the posting of practice #3 awards. We find these continued delays to be unacceptable. The SSC has been expressing our concerns with the company for more than a year regarding their ability to get accurate data into PBS. The SSC is concerned that this lack of accurate data will not be resolved by December 6, when live bidding for January schedules opens. Discussions continue at high levels regarding the company’s continued inability to overcome their internal issues impacting an effective transition to the Jeppesen PBS system."

I believe we warned about this from the LCAL side. Welcome to the PBS haunted house.

We have top men working on it right now. Top. Men.

As has been said here before; if we did our jobs as well as others at this wonderful company there would be bent metal strewn everywhere.

That's not all we warned about. The company rope-a-dope. The "delays continue to be unacceptable" on the practice bids yet PBS will go live in January. The company has never respected timelines and deadlines. Union has been "expressing our concerns...for more than a year" yet if the "high level" discussions don't delay it then nothing has changed.

Wonder if these guys are the same ones working on the Obamacare site.

November: "The PBS . . . delays in the posting of practice awards . . . We find these continued delays to be unacceptable . . . SSC has been expressing our concerns with the company for more than a year . . . Discussions continue at high levels regarding the company’s continued inability . . ."

Today: "This topic was brought up at the last SSC conference call, the SSC was made aware months ago by the company that these types of trips were going to be built to "reduce pilot costs and maximize efficiencies." The SSC has been protesting to the highest levels of management against producing these types of trips all falling on deaf ears."

It seems despite LUAL's well-deserved, well-earned reputation as a union, that they have never really encountered a management that is not just anti-labor, but ignore-labor. These responses which continue to flow from the union seem to reflect a loss of words for a company that, pretty much with impunity, blows off it's legal contractual obligations. PBS, pay, FIFO, SC, vacation, hotels, transportation, crew rest curtains, meals, BAT, etc. Ignore, delay, explain, then get permission from the union to fail to comply with UPA, which they were going to do anyway, because what else are they going to do. There's a lot indignant dust in the after all these failures, but no action. I've said before that I wish them better luck than LCAL had, but it seems like déjà vu.

FIFO grievance resulted in all Jan reserves getting 2 days of vacation as well as the FIFO fix. Curtain grievance award pays 5 hrs add pay if not in compliance... Are u not paying attention or just incapable of giving any credit where it's due?

Just frustrated. I had hoped LUAL might do better than LCAL. I don't want 2 days of vacation and 5 hours of add pay. I want FIFO to work when it was supposed to, the curtains to be there, and to know my vacation weeks for the summer sooner than two months before the summer, which is what we'll have with all these delays.

"The SSC remains engaged with the company but has emphasized to them just how unacceptable the whole situation is. With over a year to prepare, IT is just now programming some aspects of the Annual Vacation Bidding system. While the company is concentrating on fixing the award logic errors they’ve already found, the SSC is also concerned about the complete lack of clarity caused by not having accurate reports to show pilots whether or not vacations were awarded and processed in accordance with the UPA. At this point, it is the opinion of the SSC that it will do no good to publish the results of the primary vacation award until the reports are fixed. The company is looking into how long that will take. Any further changes or delays will be communicated by priority CCS message."
