I know most don't care, but for those who do, I thought I'd share what I did to fix the ugliness of the new POS uniform.
Tie: had my alterations lady re-sew it into a much narrower version of itself. The knot is still larger than I like, especially with the issue shirts, which absolutely suck, even for us skinny guys. I'll be going back to the Van Huesen commanders, those are the only decent quality pilot shirts I've ever found, particularly in regards to the collar.
(The seamstress was ****ed. "That tie took me all day!)
Hat brass: had the local jewelry repair dude cut the post off and solder it back on in a slightly higher position. Caution, use silver solder or you'll melt the front. Also, take care not to relocate the post too high or the metal ring around the hole will show.
I'm submitting my receipts this week so the company can pay to fix their incompetence. (The shirts I'll just write off.)

the UCH will provide a smaller/thinner clip on tie.... until then wear what you got or a Xmas tie.
The company is replacing the hat brass... until then, don't wear the hat.
Since the company has agreed yet hasn't completed the changes, you might not get reimbursed....
