Default SFO ALPA WiFi

Notice to all Airman:

If you are based in or transiting SFO flight ops or the upstairs lounge, the ALPA Council 34 provided union benefit of wireless internet will be off the air from 1-20 to the evening of 1-28.

SFO flight ops is currently planned to complete the move to the new terminal on or about 1-27.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but UAL wouldn't pay me to come in and do the union work...

Moving to the old American 60's gates. Operations will be under the end of the finger.

What? You actually expected current, useful information out of our IT company? BTW, the upstairs lounge will be going away with the move. The new digs has a lounge over there. A few problems already noted. It's a veryyy long way to International. Might lead to some flight delays just trying to get there.

I can see flight mangers hovering over Intl. flight planning now! 1+30 prior to departure is when the planning starts, not when I leave for the airplane! It really couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

Did you expect the company to pay for you to do union work?

Well, the Council 34 WiFi is a union benefit, and SSID and Password are posted for all to use. No way that I know to keep non-union members off the network. Anyway, yes, even the SFO staff uses it. It's stable and fast because still--the UAL WiFi is so slow and glitchy, at times it is unusable. (No iPads please on the ALPA network. UAL should be responsible for their own assets.)

ALPA drop, not really, I do this for the membership, but unless you ask, you never know about the company. Long Shot--miss...

yes i do realize that, in fact our last mec were still alpa dropping till about august this year about an extra 6 months or so. No I dont agree with the abuse we have watched for a long time now. I guess I should have asked if he expected the company to pay him for this work and if they won't maybe take it up with his local council as opposed to bringing it to this site.

No, not ALPA, yes it was a long shot for the company. They do benefit also. I don't think I or anyone should take advantage of the union or our brothers. However, I also do believe that any of our hard working reps, will never be adequately made whole for all their work they do for us.

A big thanks to everyone that gives their time to the union!

And now back to the thread....the new service is up and running. Now all I have to do is reinstall the router and computer next Wed. Getting the access is the major part of the job, at least in SFO.
