Outsourcing Canada

Here is how the new United deals with workers that made sacrifices to help the old one survive. Completely disgusting. I didn't see it mentioned on Skynet, but they did announce they were investing $7.5 million on break rooms around the system. Spectacular UAL management timing yet again.

Is this truly surprising??? No. Does this fall under dignity and respect??

Upper management would outsource every last aspect of this operation if they could save a dime.

And they will very soon. The last contract with the IAM only protects a few select out stations, the rest can and probably will be replaced with lowest bid contractors. Minneapolis has been told they have probably 2-3 years left.

It's been an amazing shift in attitude since I was hired. I miss the Bethune days...

As sickening as this is i'm curious, hasn't Delta pretty much outsourced most of its outstations by now? I have no idea if they have, I just know friends that fly there that seem to complain about a lot of outsourcing as well. Of course, pilots do like to complain so who knows. Even if they have done a lot of outsourcing, it certainly doesn't make it right.

Delta formed a wholly owned subsiduary called Delta Global Services, which took over below wing servicing of aircraft at a lot of outstations. They then laid off and hired back at a lower wage the former ramp workers. Some stations were outsourced completely to other airlines and companies. Internationally they have always used local handling companies.

They also use whats called something like 'flexible workers,' people who are not full time and can have their hours flexed up or down based on need and circumstances. They get paid about $10 an hour.

Just went thru YYZ; what a disaster on the ramp. Scary push, 20 min for weights. Wow, you get what you pay for.
