So instead of voting for pols who have tended to support labor historically, (although not nearly enough in my opinion)...because of this issue you will support pols who, historically, have always been opposed to organized labor?

ALPA should place a rep in every crew room having people sign the petition.

There aren't enough volunteers to do that.

I've probably received a dozen emails from ALPA urging members to sign the petition. Yet, from what I hear on the line, most pilots have opted out of ALPA emails. Consequently they remain ignorant of the petition's existence or the threat.

When this topic (or others) comes up, guys always want to know how I know, and/or where I heard about it. 70% of the time it is info from the forum. The other 30% its from an ALPA email. In response to my answer, 70% of the time they badmouth the forum. The other 30% of the time they badmouth ALPA. There are a LOT of Marvins in that crowd. Ignorance is bliss.

I'm not a water boy for the union. Just interested in the job and where its going.

I'll start this by saying the following issue started because of my participation in the call to action. NAI IS a vitally important issue, but ALPA is sometimes it's own worst enemy.

I've been getting tons of spam from change.org since signing the petition, along with a few thank you's from Here's the full rundown on how ALPA has outsourced the NAI campaign. It's truly ironic.

http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...nications.html

I emailed ALPA Govt. Affairs and got a canned answer and talking points about NAI, Communications passed the buck to Govt. Affairs, and IT didn't respond. In short, they could give a crap about a bonafide concern that a dues paying member has with how they do business. That's the crux of union-wide apathy, ALPA has systematically marginalized, ostracized, ignored and alienated the membership.

I was at Boeing last week and saw the Boogieman out doing flight testing, this threat is real, and it's close. The apathy that ALPA has created has come home to roost, and that IS a shame.

You need to open yours - Obamacare, higher tax rates and now this; what's next, oh yeah, cabotage.

Based on what? Ed Shultz? Rachel Maddow? You are talking fiction and we are talking about our jobs NOW, with the CURRENT administration and Senate.

We'll, that's exactly the point.

What if you are a conservative or moderate person willing to vote Democrat based on their "position" on labor, and when they get into office it has made no difference to your career from if you had voted for the other guy?

Open YOUR eyes! 117 and KCM won't do us much good if our jobs get off-shored. Last I checked the DOT reports to a Democrat President, and yet the above quote from the OP suggests that when it comes to arguably the most important decision the government will ever make WRT to U.S. airline pilot's careers, the administration is saying "eff you guys, but hey chumps, thanks for all the votes and campaign contributions over the years". At least the Republicans are up front about their support of business over labor.

Again we are in the middle, squeezed by business interests on one side and populist cheap airfare advocates on the other. Time to stop being politically naive and realize the only people who care about airline pilots are airline pilots and their families. I did sign the Call to Action, even though I think it will be a useless effort- reference again the quote in bold above.
