ALPA Legislative Update - Not Good
This just came through the pipeline. The turnout for this Call to Action is pathetic. Just like I posted on the other forum, this is the real problem, not some lawsuit about seniority. Seniority won't mean squat if we allow this type of operation to succeed.
Please contact your Congressmen and sign up for the Call to Action now. C-5 Legislative Update Fellow Council 5 pilots, I wish I had good news to report concerning the DOT and the pending NAI application, but the reality is looking grim. Here are some important points: DOT officials have given us the feedback that they are inclined to approve the application despite the language of the open skies agreement. They indicated that the extremely low ticket prices outweigh any labor concerns. DOT approval is the final hurdle for NAI and could come as soon as two weeks from now. Pilot participation numbers in this Call to Action are very low (under 15%) Pilot volunteers are talking to members of Congress right now to educate them on this issue so we can use their influence to sway the DOT in our favor. These volunteers need you backing them up in the C2A! Despite what they tell the press and government officials, NAI 787 pilot pay is about one half of the US rate. This “flag of convenience” scheme destroyed over 95% of US maritime jobs a few decades ago. NAIʼs founder and CEO, Bjorn Kjos is a former maritime lawyer. Obviously this is a battle that we need to win as it is a Pandoraʼs Box situation. It is a pivotal moment that could haunt us for a long time. If you have added your voice to the fight, thank you. If you have not participated, here is the link. All you need is your zip code and email: #denyNAI | Tell Obama to deny Norwegian Air Shuttle's application to fly into the US |
Perhaps if I titled this thread "CAL pilots say UAL guys suck" it would get a better response!

I agree with you Todd. I have noticed that very little attention was paid to this. My expectations of another BK filing down the road just went up a few notches. I guess we will just have to hope that NAS self-implodes. Not a good situation al all.

Sad. It takes all of 3 seconds to sign this petition. Too much to ask?!

I'm hoping NAS goes the way of the other low cost efforts to cross the pond. |

Kind of like $41 a month is too much to ask to be in the highest level of ALPA PAC giving.

I've checked with the last 6 guys I've flown with and not one of them had even heard of this effort. Discouraging to say the least.
That seems to be an attention getter. |
