What is life like for UAL 737 FO Reserve EWR
Like the post says, I'm looking for info on what UAL 737 Reserve FO life is like.
Number of days used Number of short call days assigned How often called with min time to report Any airport standbys assigned Any other info you might consider important. Luckily, I don't need a crash pad or wheels. Thanks in advance |

I have been flying about 30 hours per month with some aggressive pickup. Haven't had a trip assigned with min time to report it has been either on Long Call or more than 3 hours. It seems on a given day depending on weather and who is scheduling the company is assigning about 8-12 short call pilots. The staffing on the 737 in EWR is greater than any other base however. The trips are not commutable for the most part and the ones that end up in opentime are early show and late finish. The base started flying LGA trips in FEB 2014 and a few of the open trips are LGA with 0445-0700 reports there. Good luck with the start and welcome. |
Never get used right now
Assigned short call usually once in a four day block Field Standby assigned less than that |

"During the summer months, the training centers will be operating at low capacity, with many of the instructors doing as much line flying as possible. Manpower will be tight as the company is planning to operate with a 16% minimum reserve coverage. Although slightly higher than experienced at LCAL, it is much lower than LUAL has experienced." Gonna be an interesting summer. |

From the SSC meeting this week...

Update on FIFO renumeration status:
Not sure if I am a special case or not, but I thought I recalled a union email stating mid-March for the grievance payouts. It should show as a separate line item. Postpay says it will be on the April 1 check. Double check your statements to make sure you get it guys |
Not to thread drift here.....but! Meanwhile the EWR 756 reserves have been flying 80+ hours every month. There is SRM on a weekly basis due to no reserve coverage. It makes you wonder what they are doing in regards to staffing.
