If you checked CCS it looks like the lUAL guy, John W., is either leaving, fed up with the junk over these years or is getting replaced. I am placing my bets that it will be an ex-CAL CPO, Fleet Manager or other manager. If that happens we are looking at is the political consolidation of the Steve Arnold. Even though they are advertising for candidates for the position, rest assured unless some lightening strikes the replacement has already been decided.

Could you remind the peanut gallery who Steve Arnold is, and are you saying that flight ops could get worse than it is now?

That's usually how it works. My wife, who works for a Fortune 500 company, was selected for a new role. They still had to post the position and let others apply even though they had already made up their mind.

My money is on Jay Pierce, that's the position he had under Ornstein.

I believe he was the old Cleveland Chief back in the day then the IAH Chief.
Have heard "Oh he's a Pilot's Pilot" which usually means he will stab you in the back. Have also heard good/bad which usually means he will tell you before he stabs you in the back.

I come from the black side and have never had any dealing with him but I distrust everyone in there. Tainted..Every last one of them...

It's unfortunate we're even having this conservation. Jeff is looking in all the wrong places to place blame.

Steve is a pilot advocate. He was the Cleveland chief pilot at CAL. He was never chief pilot in IAH. He has never stabbed ANYONE in the back. In a position on authority I am sure he has handed down disciplinary action, but I am 100% positive that it was deserved. Cleveland CPO has ALWAYS had the highest grades from pilot surveys, and I attribute that to Steve Arnold's legacy. He is really a good guy. Anyone who says a bad word about Steve has never met him. CAL had a bunch of bad chief pilots, but Steve is not one of them.

How about we don't let ignorance from the black or blue side spoil the reputation of a guy that really can make this be a great combined airline.

Steve paid for pizzas for lunch out of his own pocket for annual ground school in Cleveland.

Not sure he fits your cheapskate comment. Although most pilots are cheap.
