Default EWR Q's

Anyone care to ballpark how long it would take a new hire assigned to 320 EWR to get ORD/IAH/DEN/LAX? Basically how long just get out of EWR? Will this vacancy bid give a better idea?

Thanks!

It's inversely related to how bad you want to get out of EWR :-).

Well, this vacancy bid doesn't have any spots for the 320 anywhere in the system...

Don't forget about "unadvertised vacancies" awarded once the final bid is released.

For example, if enough 320 FOs in a base bid larger equipment (or a different base) and the staffing drops below the published minimum there will be 320 awards for that BES despite the fact that no vacancies were originally advertised.

Always bid what you want.

In theory, manpower planning could staff the entire airline by only advertising vacancies in the widebody CA seats as senior pilots retire and let all the remaining movement occur "naturally."

In today's world a year plus. The current bid is for 11/14 staffing and the last newhires to get something other than EWR were 9/13 hires and they slid into IAH before the door shut. Rumor mill is that should improve this fall but seeing the current vacancy bid is for November hope is pushing into 2015.

The LAX and SFO 737 FO openings are all UA Furloughs 2007-08 hires.

My 2 cents there.

The last snapshot shows about 6 (or so) new hires that are able hold SFO 737 FO. They were hired about the Feb/March 2013 timeframe.

LAX is going a hell of a lot more senior than SFO and LAX has many fairly senior UAL FOs bidding in. It surprised me on LAX, but by now why does anything surprise me. I guess I have good taste like everyone else. The only vacancy bids I can hold blow ***. I hear they are making a lot of changes here at United and we are really going to like them....Oh boy, I can't wait to see the results. It should be epic. I am sure I will be sitting right seat in a EMB-120 in FAT in no time......Good times in deed.

I'm the bottom airbus guy still in training with no one after me. This last bid had a lot of airbus FOs on it. I hope more new hires get the airbus this fall. This is my unofficial count from the last vacancy award:
67 320 FO's total
15 LAX
12 SFO
10 DEN
2 IAH
12 ORD
16 DCA
